They meet in libraries and castles, in strange worlds and ordinary ones, through history and entirely outside it. The setting changes. The circumstances change. They don't.

The books were never meant to be a conventional series. They are separate stories connected by the same two women, like rooms in a very old house built around the same staircase.

Aaron merely writes them down.

The cats remain unconvinced that this counts as work.
